CHM155   Organic Chemistry for Chemical Engineers   (10 credits)

Year Running: 2015/2016
Credit level: F4
Pre-requisites for   CHM3298   CHM3299   (when the module is running)
Additional Information   Only available to Chemical Engineering students

Description

This module will assume and expand upon your basic understanding of Chemistry at A-level or its equivalent. You will learn about the physical shape, stereochemistry and reactivity of common organic molecules. You will learn about reaction mechanisms as a tool for understanding general processes rather than simply memorising specific conversions. Some industrial routes to commercially important organic molecules will be presented. By the end of this module you will be familiar with the basic types of reaction in which they participate, and the reactive intermediates which are involved.
